FLYING PHOTOBOOTH

Creating a Commercial Service/Product with a Drone

In 2012, as part of a graduate school project, I explored commercial opportunities for drones, focusing on the balance between business viability, technological feasibility, and customer desirability. One major challenge was the limited 25-minute battery life of drones, which I addressed by developing FLOTO, a flying photo booth that uses helium balloons to extend flight time.

The FLOTO drone moves on demand, capturing photos during events, while guests can use the FLOTO app to take, edit, and share these photos in real-time. After the event, participants can access a private online space to continue interactions and build lasting relationships. This project tackled the technical, legal, and social challenges of drone use, providing an innovative solution that merges technology with an engaging, user-friendly experience.
